Think.
Listen. Talk.

Tacoma
would be a better place to live if....
there were decorative
lights on trees throughout Wright Park (year-round) to make it safer
we got rid of the concrete
in Tollefson Square (it is an eyesore) and add more greenery
if libraries were open
on Sunday so working people and students could actually use them
If there was a free ride
zone in the downtown area (the hills are impossible for people to
walk up)
If the leaders had a
vision and a plan to implement that vision that held Tacoma UP rather
than settling.. Tacoma is a grand place. We need a master vision,
and then stick with it. Get community buy in!
If everyone would obey
the laws and respect others
If Tim Eyman would stop initiatives
If authorities would enforce nuisance law
If downtown had less crime
If libraries were open on Sundays.
If drugs were lessened
If poverty were realistically addressed
If city council would wake up
If South Tacoma had more places to eat in their business district
If Rainiers would win more games
If roads were improved dramatically
If gang violence would disappear
If people cared and invested more in the community
If streets were repaired
If leaders would solve the homeless problem
If downtown were revitalized and cleaned up
If law enforcement were more responsible
If the City Council would stop trying to be Seattle and embrace
what Tacoma is
City planners would keep
up with growth
the Murray Morgan Bridge was saved
The city would bring
back trolleys
there were more green spaces and the city was pedestrian-friendly.
Job and live centers were within a 10 mile radius
it had better schools for a better education – and if education
really was a priority
Tacoma neighborhoods were more community focused.
crime was reduced.
city leadership was better.
public transportation was improved.
there was better funding for schools.
there were better
job opportunities.
there was less
violence.
there was a supermarket
downtown
there was funding for neighborhood services & the city would
privatize hi tech & clean jobs downtown
City leaders had a vision
and plan to implement great vision , create a master plan for the
city
Grand vision = action plan
people in leadership
positions would take this to heart: Don’t study, Do
If we trusted the public to be involved in decision making process
One Sunday was set aside
to clean up neighborhood streets and debris and gutters
Civic engagement was both an obligation and opportunity
more to come..
